PENSACOLA, Fla. – As part of the continued discussion of the 2009 Pensacola Quality of Life survey, Jean Norman and Peggy Groves will appear on Pensacola: A Proud Past, A Better Tomorrow and discuss their opinions of life in Pensacola. The show will air February 3rd at 7 p.m. on the BLAB television network.
A majority of senior adult voters who were surveyed rated Escambia County as a “good” or “excellent” place to live. They were the only group of voters to do so. The Better Pensacola Forum hopes that the show will shed new light on the area’s strengths, and allow the community to identify areas of concern that can be corrected. This is a follow up to the December show which discussed life in Pensacola for thirty-somethings. Jerry Maygarden, executive director of the Better Pensacola Forum, is optimistic that the Forum will become a catalyst for change in our area. “It is clear that the residents of Pensacola want to see changes to the status quo,” Maygarden said, “The Forum exists to bring those areas of concern to the surface so that leaders may identify sources of the problem and begin efforts to correct the real issues that are restricting the growth of our community.” The 2009 survey tracked the opinions of 800 registered voters, chosen at random, in Escambia County. The hope of the Better Pensacola Forum is that the annual surveys will provide a benchmark of public opinion, as well as insights on trending, which will be useful to the leadership of the area. The Better Pensacola Forum will conduct its 2010 survey later this year. Viewers are invited to join the live discussion on Twitter during the show.
